Okay, I’m tired of getting asked this by “newbs” to IRC.. but, the following symbols are used in IRC networks.. ~!&@%+ and now i will tell you what they mean, the relevance of some of them however, I cannot explain.
~ | This symbol is used on Unreal/InspIRCd or similar types of IRCd. It represents the mode +q, and states the “owner” of the channel. |
! | This symbol is used on UltimateIRCd. It represents the mode +a, and states an “admin” in the channel. |
& | This symbol is used on Unreal/InspIRCd or similar types of IRCd. It represents the mode +a, and states an “admin” in the channel. |
@ | This symbol is used on all IRCds. It represents the mode +o, and states an “op” in the channel. |
% | This symbol is used on Unreal/InspIRCd/UltimateIRCd or similar types of IRCd. It represents the mode +h, and states a “half-op” in the channel. |
+ | This symbol is used on all IRCds. It represents the mode +v, and states a “voiced” user in the channel. |
